Check census and length of stay

In Vivetra: Shelter › Census & Length of Stay

On this page

Census & Length of Stay shows how many animals are in your care right now at each of your sites, how long they've been with you so far, and the average stay for animals whose episode closed in a date range you pick. Anyone signed in can open it.

How the figures are grouped

Every figure is grouped by an animal's current site: where it is now, not where it arrived. An animal that moved sites during its stay counts against its last site, and its whole stay is counted there.

Who's here right now

The first table, Current census & stays in progress, always shows today. The date range doesn't change it.

Column What it shows
Facility Each site, plus an Unassigned (no current facility set) row
In custody now Animals whose episode doesn't have a final outcome yet
Avg. stay so far (open episodes) Average days since intake for those animals. The number in brackets is how many animals it's averaged over.

Average stay for closed episodes

The second table, Average stay at resolution, averages the days from intake to outcome for episodes that closed in the range you pick. An episode counts in the period it closed in. It starts on the last 90 days.

  1. Select Census & Length of Stay in the Shelter menu.
  2. Under Average stay at resolution, choose a From date.
  3. Choose a To date.
  4. Select Run report.

The number in brackets beside each average is how many closed episodes it's based on. Animals still in your care never count towards this average, so it isn't pulled down by animals who simply haven't left yet. If you pick the dates the wrong way round, the report swaps them for you.
