Export your practice's data

Data Export downloads a complete copy of your practice's data: every table in the database and every stored file. It's yours to keep as a backup or take elsewhere. Only practice owners can open it.

What you get

A single .tar archive with:

• tables/: one JSON file per database table, with every row. Passwords, two-factor secrets and sign-in tokens are left blank.
• attachments/: every stored file, such as X-rays and scanned documents.
• manifest.json: the list of tables with row counts, when the export was made and which version of Vivetra made it.

The page shows the estimated size before you start. Most computers open a .tar file directly; on Windows, 7-Zip or the built-in extractor will.

Download the export

1. Select Admin › Data Export in the menu.
2. Enter Your current password.
3. Select Download full data export.

The archive is built when you select the button and downloads straight away. Nothing is kept on the server afterwards. It can take up to a minute for a large practice. You can run up to 3 exports an hour, and only one at a time across the practice.

If your practice is too big to export through the browser, the page says This deployment is too large to export through the browser. Contact support and they'll run the same export for you.
