Set the grooming vaccine policy
In Vivetra: Grooming › Vaccine Policy
Vaccine Policy sets which vaccines a pet must have before you groom it, for which species, and how long before the appointment each one must have been given. The grooming check-in checks every appointment's pet against this list and warns staff. Admitting a pet anyway is always recorded against the person who did it.
Only staff who can manage grooming settings see Vaccine Policy, usually the practice manager.

One policy, shared with boarding
This screen isn't a separate grooming copy. It edits the same vaccination policy boarding uses, filtered to the two kinds of rule grooming owns:
| Applies to | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Grooming only | Checked at grooming check-in only. |
| Every care context | Checked for any animal on the premises, so it also sets the kennel's admission policy if you board. |
Boarding-only rules are set on Set vaccine requirements for boarding. If any exist, they're counted under Other care contexts on this deployment at the bottom of this screen, but you can't edit them here.
Add a requirement
- In the menu, open Grooming and select Vaccine Policy.
- Under Add a requirement, choose the Vaccine.
- Choose the Species. If it isn't listed, choose Other… and type the species name.
- Choose what it Applies to: Grooming only or Every care context.
- Choose Required or recommended?. Min. days before service and Notes are optional.
- Select Add requirement.
The new rule applies from the next check-in.
Min. days before service is how long the vaccine must have been in effect before the appointment. A shot given yesterday is on file but not yet protective, so a 14-day rule would still warn.
Change or remove a requirement
Each row under Current requirements can be edited in place. Change the vaccine, species, Applies to, Required setting, days or notes, then select Save on that row. Select Remove to delete it; you'll be asked to confirm, and the check-in stops checking it.
If the list is empty, the check-in has nothing to check and every pet passes.
