Set up a herd health contract

In Vivetra: Livestock › Herd Health Contracts

On this page

A herd health contract records an ongoing retainer or consulting arrangement that covers a whole operation, rather than one visit. From the contract you can generate each period's invoice.

By default, veterinarians, front-desk coordinators and practice managers can create, invoice and end contracts. Everyone can see them.

Create a contract

  1. Select Herd Health Contracts in the Livestock menu.
  2. Under Create a new contract, choose the Operation.
  3. Choose the Contract type: Monthly retainer, Hourly block, Performance-based or Other.
  4. Check the Start date. Add an end date only if the contract has one.
  5. Fill in the field that matches the type: the Monthly billing amount for a monthly retainer, the hours included for an hourly block, or the performance metric description for a performance-based contract.
  6. Select Create contract.

Only the field matching the contract type is saved. The other two are always left blank, even if you filled them in.

Generate this period's invoice

  1. Under All contracts, select view on the contract.
  2. Select Generate invoice for this period.

Vivetra creates a draft invoice for the operation and opens it. For a monthly retainer with an amount, the retainer line is already added. For other types there's no stored rate, so the invoice starts empty and you add the period's charges yourself (see Bill a farm client › Add a line item).

Each contract can have one invoice per calendar month. If this month's invoice already exists, Vivetra tells you its number so you can edit that one instead.

End a contract

  1. Open the contract and set the End date under End this contract.
  2. Select End contract.

An ended contract shows as Ended and can no longer generate invoices.
