Record a group treatment

On this page

Each lot has a group-treatment ledger: a permanent record of every drug given to the pen, or to one animal pulled from it, with its withdrawal date. The ledger feeds the lot's withdrawal dates on the roster and the Read the antibiotic use report.

By default, veterinarians and technicians can record treatments. Everyone else can read the ledger.

Open a lot's ledger

  1. Select Animal Lots in the Livestock menu.
  2. On the lot's row, select ledger.

The Treatment ledger lists every treatment with its drug, dose, route, head count, withdrawal date, withdrawal basis and any linked feed directive.

The Record a group treatment form
  1. Under Record a group treatment, pick a drug from Structured drug reference (optional — for AMU roll-up) if it's listed.
  2. Enter the Drug name. It's always required, even when you've picked a reference.
  3. Enter the Active ingredient (mg): the total milligrams given in this event. The antibiotic use report adds these up.
  4. Check the Administered date, and choose the Administering veterinarian and who Performed by it.
  5. Enter the Head count treated.
  6. Choose the Withdrawal basis: Label, FARAD consult (US), Clinical judgment (incl. AU/NZ off-label vet determination) or Cascade standard (UK/IE statutory minimum).
  7. Enter the Withdrawal date (meat).
  8. Select Record treatment.

Add the drug lot number, dose per head and route too; they're printed in the ledger.

Vivetra never works out a withdrawal date for you. It records the date you enter.

Treating one animal from the lot

To treat a single identified animal rather than the whole pen, enter its tag in Treated animal ID (the pull case — one identified animal out of the lot). The withdrawal then holds only that animal, and the roster lists it under individual animals under withdrawal. Leave it blank for a whole-pen treatment.

The other fields

Field When to use it
Export slaughter interval clears on Australia's export slaughter interval, usually later than the domestic withdrawal. Leave blank if none applies.
FARAD reference number US FARAD consults only. Elsewhere, put the basis citation in Scientific basis notes.
Link a VFD document (only when the drug required a VFD in feed) Choose the feed directive this treatment was given under (see Write a veterinary feed directive).
This treatment was a controlled substance Tick it for a controlled drug, then log the matching entry on the controlled-substance screen.

If the lot is no longer active, the form stays available with a warning, for a late or correcting entry.
