Record a breeding soundness exam

On this page

A breeding soundness evaluation (BSE) records a bull's exam: scrotal circumference, sperm motility and morphology, physical findings and your classification. Vivetra records the measurements; the classification is always yours, never worked out from them. The record is printable for the client.

Only veterinarians can record an evaluation. By default, veterinarians, front-desk coordinators and practice managers can add an exam to an invoice.

Record an evaluation

Open the bull's livestock page (see Track an individual animal › Open an animal), then:

  1. Select Breeding soundness (BSE).
  2. Check the Exam date and choose the Examining vet.
  3. Enter the Scrotal circumference (cm), Progressive motility (%) and Normal morphology (%). Every measurement is optional.
  4. Choose the Classification: Satisfactory Potential Breeder, Classification Deferred or Unsatisfactory Potential Breeder. This is required.
  5. Select Record evaluation.

Before you save, describe the Physical exam findings (feet and legs, eyes, body condition, genitalia, libido). If a trich test was taken on the same chute pass, link it in Disease test from the same chute pass; record the test itself on Record disease tests and movement certificates.

Bill the exam

The Billing section adds an exam to an existing draft invoice for the bull's operation. If there's no draft, create one first (see Bill a farm client › Create an invoice).

  1. Choose the Exam. Exams already billed aren't listed.
  2. Choose the Draft invoice.
  3. Check the description and quantity, and enter the Unit price.
  4. Select Add to invoice.

Each exam can be billed once.

  1. Select Print exam record at the top of the page.

The printout is the Breeding soundness evaluations history.
